The Birdville Lady Hawks fans arrived armed with flyswatters and ambitions to beat the Lady Jackets but left without a win or smashed Yellow Jacket.

The Lady Jackets defeated the Lady Hawks in three games Tuesday night at Mansfield’s Timberview High School.

Katie Tull, Ashlie Christianson, Kylie Ginn and Samantha Olesak led the Lady Jackets to a 25-16, 25-23 and 25-13 win

Cleburne dominated the first game jumping out to a 4-0 lead before allowing Birdville to score. The Lady Hawks mounted a comeback attempt but were thwarted when the Lady Jackets went on a six-point streak taking the first game 25-16.

The entire season the Lady Jackets have a had a letdown during the second game. The second game of this best of five series wasn’t any different. The Lady Hawks led by five points before the Lady Jackets came rushing back and tied eventually tied the game 12-12. The game from that point became a go ahead—fall behind—go ahead seesaw match. After Cleburne went up 18-10, the Lady Hawks tied the game 19-19. They continued until they were within two points of the win, but the Lady Jackets were not to be denied. The team fought back to tie the game at 23-23 and eventually took the win 25-23.

The third game saw Cleburne come out aggressively and pulled ahead 10-4 before allowing the Lady Hawks to score four points. From that point, the Lady Jackets took over and took the win and the match 25-13.

The Lady Jackets will play Aledo, who defeated O.D. Wyatt in three games last night. A time and date is still to be determined.
