The Lady Owls were not going down without a fight and jumped out to a 4-0 lead in game two. Cleburne fought back tying the game 4-4. From there is was a see-saw battle until the Lady Jackets took over for the 25-20 win.
"Overall I thought we did good," outside hitter Ashlie Christenson said of the second game. "We relaxed a little, but when we fell behind we took over and took it back."
The Lady Jacket domination returned in full force for the third and final game, when the team jumped out to a 16-5 lead. The Lady Owls chipped away at the lead but Cleburne was just too much for them. With the score 19-12, the Lady Jackets took control and closed out the match with a 25-16 third game win.
"We have an intensity when play them," defensive specialist Jessica Melve said. "I think it's there because they are our rivals."
Outside hitter Liz Mandich agreed.
"It's almost like something we have to do (win) or else it will linger with us the rest of the season," she said.
Christenson had 15 kills during the game, followed by middle blocker Katie Tull with 13. Setter Samantha Olesak contributed with 28 assists.
