Sep 3, 2005 - 10:32:00 AM - The CHS Boys Cross Country team is looking for a good showing in Denton on Saturday at the Marcus I Invitational.
"There will be about 70-80 teams there from all over Texas and even from Oklahoma," Coach Richard Naylor said.
Coach Naylor will be looking for signs that the work this team has put in will be working.
"I just hope we can compete, we've worked real hard all summer, and I just want them to execute," Coach Naylor said.
The team will be looking to their two seniors, Leo Amaya and Drew Hazle, as the team leaders.
"I've never really thought of myself as a leader, I just try to do the best I can and if the guys learn from that than that is a very good thing," Drew Hazle said.
Leo Amaya has similar feelings.

"I try to be someone the younger guys can look up to, but at the same time I have to be the best that I can be," Amaya said.
Amaya also has high hopes for this team.
"Honestly we are better than last year, this team may be smaller but everyone works hard," Amaya said.
Coach Naylor is looking for success througout the season, especially at the district tournament.
"We've been working on executing certain strategies that hopefully can get us to place in the top three at the district tournament and get us to regionals," Coach Naylor said.
Leo Amaya remains a little more optimistic.
"We can win district, we have a really good chance at it," Amaya said.
This weekend could be a real sign of things to come for the Jackets.
