Feb 15, 2005 - 3:27:00 PM - For the second time in two years, Leah Parker, Ashley Sartin and Sarah Chambless will represent CHS at the state swim meet as part of the girls’ medley relay team.
Sartin, Chambless, Ashley Scarber and Parker finished first in girls’ medley relay at the regional meet in San Antonio last week. With a time of 1:58.10 the quartet qualified as the eighth seed going into the state tournament.
Parker said she and the team are looking forward to another chance at bringing home a state trophy.
“Last year was really exciting,” she said. “We still had a lot to learn. This year for three of us it’s the second time to swim at state. Hopefully, the extra year of experience will help.”
Chambless said she hopes the momentum from regionals help them at state.
"It is awesome getting to go to state again,"Chambless said. "Especially, since we are going as the first place team in our region."
Additionally, Parker, who is returning to the state meet for the third time, qualified for state in two individual events
Parker is seeded 13th in the state 100 breaststroke after posting a time of 1:12.99 in the regional meet. She is seeded 14th in the 200 individual medley. Her regional time in this event was 2:21.75.
Sartin finished first in backstroke and is seeded sixth at the state meet.
