We have all heard the news by now and some of us were disgusted while others were dancing in the street last Tuesday night when Barack Obama was named the Presidential Elect. The campaigning season was a long one and both fought hard, but only one came out on top.

Maturity defines adulthood, but where is the line drawn? Apparently, there is a greater “assurance” when a person becomes 21, they will be more mature, says the Dallas Morning News. Legitimately, it is known that when a person turns 18 they are considered a legal adult.

In years past and most likely years to come, candidates for office have used lies and manipulation to win votes. They make empty promises and are careful of what they say in order not to lose voters’ support. Usually they avoid the little things, things that can simply be forgotten when they “WOW” supporters with their big plans. But not McCain and Obama, they have started a new trend. They would rather win voters over by promising them things personally like healthcare and better gas prices. Now I agree that those things are nice, but there is also the country itself to worry about. Remember?
