The mother, brother and nephew of Oscar winner, Jennifer Hudson have all been pronounced dead over a four day period.
On Friday, October 24th, Darnell Donerson and Jason Hudson were shot and killed in their
Englewood home, and seven year old Julian King had gone missing.
There were many attempts to find King, family and friends gathered to look for some sort of clue as to where he might be. Jennifer Hudson offered a cash reward for information on Kings whereabouts an even pleaded on her MySpace posting “Please keep praying for our family and that we get Julian King back home safely.”
Sadly
Hudson was asked to identify her nephew’s body Monday after police found him in an abandoned SUV parked on West Side St. in
Chicago.
The prime suspect in the case is William Balfour. He is the estranged husband of Kings Mother, Julia Hudson, as well as Kings Stepfather. Balfour was questioned Friday night but refused to say anything after police mentioned a polygraph test.
Police say there has been an on going feud between Balfour and the
Hudson family.
At one point he even resided with Darnell Donerson and Jason Hudson but became furious when they threw him out, and proceeded to make threats against the family.
Balfour is no stranger to the police; he was convicted in 1999 for attempted murder and carjacking. He is in custody but has not been charged with anything at this time.
Police believe that Balfour shot his way into the
Hudson home striking Jason. Donerson was in the other room but came out screaming, and Balfour shot her as well.
Shell casings were found in the child’s room but there was no evidence of violence there. What police think happened that day came from an interview with one of Balfour’s girlfriends.
As the justice system goes through its process the
Hudson family is left to mourn the loss of three family members.
Not only are three lives lost but many more have come to an abrupt halt.
Although all fingers are pointed at Balfour, he is in fact innocent until proven guilty.
Even if he did do it, our judicial system will give him the opportunity to plead his case.
It does not matter who he is, what he did, or how he did it, he is an American citizen and that is his right.
