Chick flicks too predictable and unrealistic.

Every girl has the urge to have a good laugh and cry over a romantic comedy while eating some Ben and Jerry's ice cream. Kleenex box in hand, spoon ready girls prepare to enjoy a good tear-jerker. Predictabilty is what they seek. However, predictabilty can lead to boredom and a distorted view of life.

Every chick flicks follows the same pattern. Boy meets girl. Girl hates boy. Boy wins over girl. Boy or girl makes mistake which temperarely breaks up relationship. Boy and girl reconnect. Are these movies still predictable? I think so.

Movies like The Break Up and The Family Stone are breaking the mold, and to be quite honest, I'm thrilled.

Lately, Hollywood has been putting too much emphasis on happily ever afters and how love is "supposed" to happen. Teenage girls and even young women are starting to feel inadequate toward the actresses choosen to portray the girl all the boys love and almost feel pressured to find Mr. Right.

I am sick of the same old pattern in every single movie. I have almost given up on seeing these romantic comedies simply because of their predictable pattern. I am sick of spending $4 on a movie ticket to watch Hollywood rub this in my face. Don't get me wrong, I love watching chick flicks when depressed, angry or just to make me feel better, but I am getting tired of the same pattern. With this, I issue Hollywood a challenge. Please try to produce a Blockbuster chick flick that has a more realistic ending so we all can relate more!
