CHS Bands Take Charge

By Billy Barfield

Cleburne High School consists of many bands, but two bands in general stick out a lot. One of the bands is a Praise and Worship (Christian) band, this band is called "Always Living in View of Eternity" or "A.L.I.V.E." This band consists of Justin Carrell (vocals), Jordan Honaker (guitar), Billy Barfield (bass) and Taylor Gillisapie (drums, keyboards). Carrell is a senior at CHS,Gillisapie and Barfield are juniors  and Honaker is a junior at Keene High School. This band has been in performing for about six months but about a month ago they decided to get serious with it. "A.L.I.V.E"'s inspiration comes from their church, Calvary Baptist in Cleburne because they put forth an effort to put out good music. The band's name was thought up by Carrell.

"We want to be alive in the christian life, not dead," Carrell said.

The band's website is www.expage.com/aliveworship, and  in the upcoming months, they will be starting many projects. If you would like to hear "A.L.I.V.E," they will be playing at Calvary Baptist in the next few months.

The other band that sticks out at CHS is, "Late Shift," a progressive emo band that consists of Matt Wilson (vocals), Devon Gastineau (guitar), Adam Bridges (bass) and Madison Cotton (drums). They thought of their band name by brainstorming names as a group. "Late Shift"'s website is www.lateshiftrocks.com. The band has been together since late March. Their musical influences are "Taking Back Sunday," "Early November" and "At The Drive-In." "Late Shift"'s upcoming shows are: September 4th at The Asylum, a recording September 5th at First Street Audio and September 11th at The Door.

These two bands are a little of what makes CHS great. They show potential to become great musicians, and as each group grows during the school year we will watch them progress.
