Drama class to present 'Peter Pan'

By Clint McKee, Yapper staff

Sep 9, 2004 - 5:24:00 PM - Last year, the drama class produced a Disney masterpiece with "Beauty and the Beast" for its children’s production. This year yet another Disney classic will be shown, "Peter Pan." It is the story of the energetic boy’s adventures with the Lost Boys and the pirates in Neverland.

Mrs. Sally Maxey is the director of this year’s children show.

“We are renting the flying equipment from Las Vegas, so Peter Pan can fly,” Maxey said. “The actual performance is on the weekend of Halloween, October 26, 27 and 28. Thursday is community night and the public is invited to attend.”

Almost everyone knows the story of Peter Pan. Everyone except for Aimee Rose, who is, oddly enough, playing the role of Peter.

“I’ve never seen it but I think he is the captain of Neverland,” Rose said. “There is a big fight scene when the pirates capture Tiger Lily. The big difference between me and Peter is I am not British and I am not a boy.”

Jill Baker plays the part of Wendy. She said that they aren’t really all that different.

“The only thing that separates me from Wendy is that she can fly,” Baker said.

As well as getting familiar with the story and their characters, the CHS actors and actresses are preparing for the production in other ways.

“We’ve been cutting the script down and we have been working on the dances,” Baker said.

Walt Disney’s "Peter Pan" promises to be an awesome performance.
