CHS Scores Top Wins at State UIL


May 8, 2008 - 11:43:29 AM - Cleburne High School’s academic athletes brought back gold, silver and bronze from Saturday’s State UIL academic spring meet.

Senior Whittany Braswell was named the champion in UIL prose interpretation, creating a new entry in the CHS record books. Kaley Ownbey, Will Hinson, Jacob Hite and Kyle Mears continued Cleburne’s winning tradition in accounting team competition, capturing the third place spot among the top 4-A teams in the state for the fourth consecutive year. In individual scoring Ownbey was the silver medalist.

Finalist Named

Sweetwater ISD Superintendent Dr. Ronald “Ronny” Beard has been named the lone finalist for superintendent of Cleburne ISD, following board action April 25.

Dr. Beard has served as superintendent of Sweetwater since April of 2004, which was preceded by three years as assistant superintendent for instruction with White Settlement ISD. He was also superintendent of schools at Star ISD from 1992-93.

Services Set for Assistant Principal

Funeral services have been scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, March 9 at White Bluff Chapel for Cleburne High School Assistant Principal Krista Findley, who was killed in a car accident early Thursday morning. Visitation will be take place Saturday from 6-8 p.m. at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Home in Whitney.

2007 Homecoming Honorees Announced


Oct 6, 2007 - 12:51:58 PM - Chuck Curtis, former coach of the Cleburne Yellow Jackets, and members of the 1982 team which advanced to the semi-final round of the 4A state football championships, are among the honorees who will be presiding over Cleburne High School 2007 Homecoming festivities.

Curtis and his 1982 Jackets will serve as Parade Marshals for Thursday evening’s Homecoming Parade, kicking off two days of activities, sponsored by Cleburne High School and the CHS Ex-Students Association.
