Dec 1, 2004 - 11:53:00 AM - The Yellow Jacket basketball team has gotten off to a fast start this season by recording a 4-1 record.
The Jacket's lone loss came against tough Justin Northwest. Fortunately, the Jackets rebounded with a win over China Spings on Tuesday and now prepare for the Burleson Tournment starting Thursday.
The Jackets will face stiff competition when they face Richland (1-6) and Arlington Heights in the beginning rounds of the tournament.
"We are on the same level as all of the other teams," Head-coach Jeff Cody said, referring to the competition his team will face in the tournament.
Several of the players expressed the same feelings as Coach Cody.
"I think we should do pretty good this week," junior guard Brett Hamilton said.
Teammate Jacob Kelsey, junior guard, expressed a little more confidence when contemplating the tournament this weekend.
"We're winning it," Kelsey said.
Next up for the Jackets is a match against county-rival Burleson Elks here December 7.
